A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE SHELBY/BROAD STREET HIGH SCHOOL "JAGUARS" BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM AND COACH ISAIAH PETERSON FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING 1998-1999 SEASON.

WHEREAS, the Broad Street High School "Jaguars" Boys Basketball Team from Shelby, Mississippi, completed an outstanding 1998-1999 season with a 30-7 record; and

WHEREAS, the Jaguars compiled an excellent tournament record, placing second in the State Class 2-A Tournament, after winning the District 3-2A Tournament and the North Mississippi Regional Tournament; and

WHEREAS, the Jaguars are ably coached by Isaiah Peterson and assistants Ira Peterson and Marlow Dorsey, who fine tuned the players' athletic skills and instilled a team attitude; and

WHEREAS, the following members of the team received All-State Tournament Team honors: Kelvin Butler, Kenji Peterson and Lamar Sparks; and

WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this fine group of student athletes who have brought honor to their school, community and to the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Shelby, Mississippi, Broad Street High School "Jaguars" Boys Basketball Team and Coach Isaiah Peterson for their outstanding 1998-1999 season, and wish them continued success in their athletic, academic and career endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be presented to Coach Peterson and the Principal of Broad Street High School on behalf of the team and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
